In Pictures: The First Battles!

W-O-W. Our Acts came out fighting as the first round of Battles commenced! The four Coaches were tasked with pairing up their Acts to go head-to-head, with only one talented singer from each pair able to progress to the next round. There were beautiful blends, superstar performances and some tough decisions - as well as two dramatic Steals! Let's see how it all unfolded.

Emma Willis arrived and we knew everything was going to be juuuuust fine.

The man, the myth, the legend Sir Tom Jones makes his entrance.

A super cool, super glam Meghan Trainor gives the audience a wave.

The Coaches braced themselves for some tough decisions.

will.i.am made himself comfy. We've heard the view's much better up there...

Vocal powerhouses Alan Chan and Bleu Woodward were the first pair to take to the stage as part of Team Olly. They rocked it out with their performance of Cher's 'If I Could Turn Back Time'.

After some deliberation from Olly, it was Alan Chan that made it through to the Knockouts! 'I won't let you down,' he said as he thanked his Coach.

Next up it was Doug Sure and Zindzi Thomas for Team Tom, with a beautiful rendition of U2 and Mary J Blige's 'One'.

After singing their hearts out, it was Doug who kept his place in Team Tom!

We got a taste of some anthemic pop next, as Jonny Brooks and Lara Anstead went head-to-head with James Bay's 'Us'.

Jonny Brooks couldn't quite believe it when he was picked as Tom's winner, and it's off to the Knockouts for Jonny!

Next the R&B diva and Opera Queen combined to give us a stunning and unique version of Sia's 'The Greatest'.

Meghan chose Blaize China to progress to the next round...

...but Claudillea also made it through when will.i.am used his Steal keep her in the competition!

Opera met folk as Johannes Pietsch and Evergreen battled it out with their performance of Eva Cassidy's 'Songbird'.

And the young singer couldn't believe it when he made it through to the Knockouts!

Dean John-Wilson and Oli Ross took their place on the stage for Team Meghan, with a hauntingly gorgeous version of Hozier's 'Take Me To Church'.

It was a delighted Oli Ross that made it through to the Knockouts!

A heart-stopping end to the show saw Blessing Chitapa and Beryl McCormack bring their incredible vocals to the Westlife hit 'Flying Without Wings'. The stunning performance had the Coaches on their feet - and the audience completely blown away!

After some tough deliberating from Olly, Blessing was overjoyed when he picked her to stay on his Team.

But Meghan wasn't letting Beryl and her beautiful voice leave the competition, and we get our second steal of the night! YES!

The Voice UK continues on Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV and STV.
