ITV add new feature race days in 2024
ITV Racing will broadcast almost 120 days of racing in 2024, with new races – and times - added to the existing schedule.
As well as the 100 core days including all the highlights of the racing calendar, new additions include the Winter Millions at Lingfield on Friday 19 and Sunday 21 January; the Irish Grand National on Easter Monday 1 April; the Sunday of the St Leger meeting on 15 September; the Friday of Cheltenham’s October Showcase meeting on 25 October; the Old Roan Chase at Aintree on Sunday 27 October; the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter on Friday 8 November, and Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on Sunday 8 December.
For the first time, morning races will also appear on The Opening Show with Lingfield on 20 January, the first of these.
Some key international races, the Sky Bet Sunday Series and Racing League, will again appear in the busy schedule.
ITV Racing will continue to evolve its use of data and graphics (as was the case in 2023 with Ruby Walsh’s analysis hub) with a new project called Race IQ, currently in development with RMG and Ellipse. These innovative ways of looking at data will be used by Richard Hoiles, Ruby Walsh and the team to help viewers at home better understand races – both before, during and after.
Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani will continue to spearhead the Bafta-winning presenting and production team.
Richard Willoughby, ITV Racing Editor says:
“We are excited about our schedule for 2024 bringing in some new races, a few more Sundays and trialling morning races into The Opening Show for the first time. We also are keen to continually evolve the way we analyse and broadcast racing to offer viewers the most engaging experience we possibly can.”
