Ghaiyyath powers to victory in Autumn Stakes

Ghaiyyath powered clear of his rivals in the Autumn Stakes.

The Godolphin-owned Dubawi colt made a big impression when he opened his account over course and distance three weeks ago and was an 11-4 chance in this Group Three.

Runner-up Dream Today made much of the running against the rail and briefly looked to have cut loose.

But Charlie Appleby's Ghaiyyath improved as the race went on and ended up scoring by a length and three-quarters in the hands of William Buick.

Buick said: "It was a nice performance.

"He bunny-hopped out of the stalls and I wanted to be closer than what I was.

"But they went a nice gallop and he travelled sweet throughout and won well in the end.

"He gave me a nice feel. He's a big horse who is going to be better next year."
