Cosmic Law streaks away to win the Investec Woodcote EBF Stakes
Cosmic Law ran out a dominant winner of the Investec Woodcote EBF Stakes at Epsom.
Fifth on his Doncaster debut in early May, Richard Fahey's colt opened his account at Carlisle on his second start and was a 10-1 shot for the opening race of the Investec Derby Festival under PJ McDonald.
Marie's Diamond set out to make all the running as the 2-1 favourite, but Cosmic Law was always his tail and after hitting the front racing inside the final two furlongs, the son of Nay Never Never powered clear for a most impressive six-length success.
Marie's Diamond weakened out of contention, with Usain Boat coming through to finish second.
Fahey was quick to nominate the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot as a target for the winner.
He said: "I was very impressed with that and I actually fancied him coming down today. He seems to be quite a nice horse.
"I thought the six would suit him and I didn't think the ground would bother him. He's quite a laid-back horse and he's getting better. He's a star and a gent of a horse at home who was always going to improve with racing, like some do.
"I'll speak to the owner, but that (Coventry Stakes) is what I had in mind before today."
