ITV: A British Success Story Rooted in the Nations and Regions

ITV is a global media and entertainment company as well as a British success story with our roots firmly in the nations and regions of the UK. We are proud of our strong regional identity, making and showing a wide range of great programmes that reflect the UK in all its geographic and social diversity. Research from industry analysts, Mediatique, reveals that the extent of ITV's financial impact (GVA) in 2019 in the nations and regions totals £643m (including our spend with regional independent producers). They also found that for every £1 spent directly on ITV’s own staff, another £4.85 was generated elsewhere in the economy.

This brochure provides more information on ITV's presence in the nations and regions, the scale of our employment around the country, and some of the talent development initiatives we run. It also provides more information on programmes we have made telling stories for and about the country. The report also highlights the risk that globalising trends in TV production and distribution pose to the national TV ecology in the UK. It makes clear that without decisive intervention, the future of UK produced, original content made at scale outside of London and the South East will be in jeopardy.  At stake is the visibility and viability of UK public service media content.
