ITV Studios today announces sales for its rich scripted catalogue, as well its new drama slate due to be presented to global buyers at MIPCOM 2023.

The highly-anticipated second season of World on Fire, written by the multi-award-winning Peter Bowker, Rachel Bennette and Matt Jones, and made by Mammoth Screen for the BBC and Masterpiece (US and English-speaking Canada) has sold to 80 territories.

Taking viewers from the streets of Britain into occupied France, Nazi Germany, and the sands of the North African desert, where British troops struggle alongside Indian Sappers and Australian Diggers to adapt to a very different kind of combat, season two of World on Fire has sold to SRC (French Canada), Movistar in Spain, in the Nordics (DR, NRK, YLE, SVT, RUV), M-Net for Africa and SBS Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand.

Nail-biting medical thriller from World Productions, Malpractice, one of ITVX's most streamed dramas, has sold in the Asia Pacific region to Wowow in Japan, KT in South Korea as well as The Seven Network in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand. The series is directed by BAFTA-nominated Philip Barantini (Boiling Point, The Responder) and written by former NHS doctor Grace Ofori-Attah.

Ruth Berry, Managing Director, Global Partnerships, ITV Studios, said “We are so proud to be able to offer our buyers such an impressive slate of returning and new drama from the best producers in the business. Season two of World on Fire, won its slot every night during its run on BBC One and a real testament to the quality and commercial appeal of our portfolio.”

Earlier this year, ITV Studios announced a major co-production agreement for the US and Canada to stream Malpractice on The Roku Channel and major Nordic public broadcasters (SVT in Sweden, NRK in Norway, YLE in Finland, DR in Denmark and RUV in Iceland) acquired rights to broadcast the top-rated show.

2023 SLATE

ITV Studios’ stunning new slate of drama titles includes: the eagerly-awaited Until I Kill You (formerly entitled Delia) (4 x 60, produced by World Productions for ITV); a mini-series starring Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland, Line of Duty, A Spy Among Friends), Shaun Evans (Vigil, Endeavour) and Kevin Doyle (Downton Abbey, Happy Valley), from the producers of The Pembrokeshire Murders, telling the story of how Delia Balmer survived  a near-fatal relationship with murderer John Sweeney. New powerful drama created by Michael Sheen, James Graham and Adam Curtis, The Way (3 x 60, produced by REDSEAM in association with Little Door Productions for The BBC); a series tapping into the social and political chaos of today’s world.

Additionally, compelling thriller After The Flood (6 x 60, produced by Quay Street Productions for ITV and BritBox International) where a small town is hit by a flood that proves to be life changing for its residents in many ways. Along with, brand-new returnable drama Human Error (6 x 60, produced by Roadshow Rough Diamond for Nine Network Australia) exploring shocking crimes, complex police investigations, and the many forces at play around them both; After The Party (6 x 60, produced by Lingo Pictures and Luminous Beast for TVNZ/ABC), following the life of Penny Wilding who accuses her husband of a sex crime, and nobody believes her. Five years later, she must decide what’s more important – the truth, or rebuilding her relationship with her daughter.

Featuring in the drama slate includes the dark comedic thriller written by Charlotte Coben and executive produced by Nicola Shindler, Dead Hot (6 x 60, produced by Quay Street Productions for Prime Video UK) which involves a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns, explores family, class, love, trauma and identity against the backdrop of present-day Liverpool. As well as Breathtaking (3 x 60, produced by Hat Trick Mercurio Productions for ITV); a thought-provoking and poignant account of a hospital doctor caught in the eye of the storm during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Along with The Marlow Murder Club (4 x 60/2 x120, produced by Monumental Television for UKTV and WGBH Masterpiece where writer, Robert Thorogood (Death in Paradise), transforms his international bestseller The Marlow Murder Club into a fiendishly puzzling new murder mystery drama; also the ground-breaking anthology drama Erotic Stories (8 x 30, produced by Lingo Pictures for SBS Australia) featuring contemporary, inclusive tales of love and lust.

In addition, brand-new drama Infiltré (6 x 60, produced by Tetra Media for France 2); a riveting ride into the world of organised crime and undercover policing on the streets of France. Based on the book by investigative journalist Matthieu Suc, Spies of Terror (4 x 60, produced by Tetra Media for M6), from the producers of Paris Police 1900, this is a fictionalised story exploring the work of the police and investigative forces following the real-life terrorist attacks in 2015.

Also part of the show-stopping selection is the Cary Grant biopic, Archie (4 x 60, produced by Etta Pictures for ITV and BritBox); and Mr Bates vs Post Office (4 x 60, produced by ITV Studios for ITV) created by BAFTA® award-winning producer Patrick Spence (Litvinenko, A Spy Among Friends) which brings to the screen an extraordinary story of the greatest miscarriage of justice in British legal history.
