BritBox UK exclusively premieres Cold Courage

London, 25th August 2020: BritBox UK today announced that Cold Courage, the nail-biting international crime drama starring John Simm, will receive its UK premiere on BritBox where it will be available exclusively from 3rd September 2020. Cold Courage is distributed by Lionsgate. 

This eight episode series is based on the award-winning and best selling books by Pekka Hiltunen which were adapted for the screen by BAFTA-nominated David Joss Buckley (Hinterland) and Brendan Foley (The Riddle). The series is produced by Markku Flink and Pauli Pentti, and directed by Agenta Fagerstrom-Olsson and Kadir Ferati Balci. Fredrik Ljungberg, Jon Petersson, Kjartan Por Pordarson, Cormac Fox, Tom Hameeuw, Peter De Maegd and Marc B. Lorber are Executive Producers. 

Set in London, Cold Courage introduces two young Finnish women, Mari and Lia, who are drawn together through  the “Studio” –– a clandestine group of like-minded people operating off the grid, dedicated to righting the wrongs of the powerful, influential and corrupt. The Studio is Mari’s hand-picked team –– Rico the hacker, Berg the set designer, Paddy the private detective, Maggie the actress. They hide in plain sight and fight the crimes the police can't, or won't, get involved in: corporate greed; unchallenged injustice; the exploitation of the dispossessed and the stateless; violence against the vulnerable. The Studio tackles those who believe they are above the law –– too powerful, too rich, too dangerous to care,deploying the full range of its technological, intellectual and practical weapons to bring them to book. In doing so they don’t always obey the rules. They don’t always play fair. And they don’t always tell the truth. And that’s okay, when the ends justify the means –– isn't it? 

John Simm (Doctor Who, Life on Mars) stars as populist politician Athur Fried, and is joined by Caroline Goodall (The White Princess, Bulletproof) and Arsher Ali (Informer, Line of Duty) alongside Finnish leads Sofia Pekkari and Pihla Viitala. Jakob Eklund, Peter Coonan and Matteo Simoni also star. 

Cold Courage will be available exclusively on BritBox UK from 3rd September 2020.
