Wiltshire Police has issued a statement to discourage speculation into who else convicted murderer Christopher Halliwell may have killed.
The Swindon taxi driver was jailed for a whole life term last week, after being found guilty of murdering Becky Godden. The 52 year-old was already serving a life sentence for the murder of Sian O’Callaghan in 2011.
While the force admits that it is "conceivable" there may be more victims, it is urging against further speculation, at the risk of upsetting families.
It comes as former detective Steve Fulcher has been naming potential victims in a series of media interviews.
We strongly discourage speculation as this will cause further distress to families and friends of people who are currently missing across the Country, who will clearly be desperate to have news of their loved ones.
We would however welcome any new information from the public, or indeed, from Halliwell himself.
Christopher Halliwell will no longer be a danger to the public following his whole life tariff sentence. Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of Sian and Becky who have shown great dignity and strength throughout.
