Teenage cyclist dies after collision

Tributes have been paid to a teenage boy who died after a collision with a car in Gloucestershire.

Louis Eldridge, 14, suffered fatal injuries in the accident with a Volkswagen Polo on Station Road, Wanswell, Berkeley at about 7.35pm on Friday evening.

He was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol but died on Saturday night, Gloucestershire Police said.

Members of Sharpness and District Youth Club will be making a collection in memory of Louis, who they described as "full of beans".

Sad news this evening to hear of the death of Louis Eldridge, who whilst not a regular at Sharpness Youth Club, did attend on many occasions. He always came across as a young man full of beans and I'm sure will be sadly missed by all who know him.

Louis was a student at Rednock School in Dursley. The school paid tribute in a statement on it's website and said pupils will be offered counselling.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said:

The 14-year-old boy involved in the collision in Berkeley on Friday night sadly died in hospital yesterday evening. The coroner has been informed and our collision investigation continues.
