A special gig was held on Friday in memory of the Bristolian music legend DJ Derek. The 73 year old's body was found three weeks ago - he'd been missing for months.

On Friday night more than a thousand people gathered in his memory. Rob Da Bank and Daddy G were among the DJs.

Friends and family were expecting a turnout of hundreds, but the fans kept on coming.

Derek's niece Jennifer Griffiths said: "Just to see the amount of people that turned out obviously means a lot to us. We're very happy with the support."

It was a memorial gig filled with music and laughter, a scene the late DJ would be used to. He meant so much to so many - who are now focussing on giving him send off.

Money from Friday night's event will go towards DJ Derek's funeral costs but will also be used to paint a mural for the late DJ.
