Plans for a new arena in Bristol will be unveiled today.

The £90 million arena is set to open in two years time. It's being designed by Populous, the team responsible for the Olympic Stadium.

The stadium specialists will work in partnership with the award winning Bath based practices Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects and BuroHappold Engineering.

Alongside the London 2012 stadium, Populous designed the O2 Arenas in London, Berlin and Dublin, and the recently completed Leeds Arena.

However to build the arena, the council will have to apply for it's own planning permission. It's hoped the arena will be completed by 2017.
