A transgender woman who was sent to a male prison for assault has been moved to a female prison, after a campaign to have her moved.

A legal partner at the Bath firm representing Tara Hudson has tweeted the following.

Politicians have been tweeting their support for the 26-year-old, who was given a 12-week sentence at all-male Bristol Prison by magistrates despite having lived as a woman her whole adult life.

A petition calling for her to be moved was signed by more than 140,000 people, and fears for her safety increased after reports that she was sexually harassed in the male prison.
