A judge has said prison officials should reconsider where a transgender woman serves her sentence for assault.

Supporters of Tara Hudson staged a demonstration outside Bristol Crown Court - where her appeal against the jail term was rejected. The court heard she'd been taunted by inmates since being sent to the all-male Bristol prison.

While rejecting her appeal, the judge said it was for the prison service rather than the court to decide where she should serve her term, and invited "sensitive consideration" of the issue.
