Becky Watts trial: Blood stains found in family home matched Becky

Blood staining was found on door frames on both sides of Becky's bedroom, the master bedroom and the spare room, the court has heard.

Forensic scientist Claire Morse told the jury she discovered a hand print in staining on Becky's door frame, roughly 5ft above the ground.

Listing where she discovered blood Ms Morse said she had examined staining on both sides of Becky's bedroom door frame, twice on the master bedroom door frame - which also had a finger print in one - and also on the door frame of the spare bedroom.

When she profiled the DNA, taken from the blood stains, she told the court it matched samples taken from Becky's toothbrush and remains.

The court then heard the forensic scientist had then analysed items found in the suitcases in the shed including two face masks and a knife.

DNA matches to Matthews were found on both face masks, while a match to Hoare was also discovered on the inside edge of one.

On the inside of the mask there was a mixed profile which contained all the components of both Ms Hoare.

There is strong support she contributed to this sample.

That finding is what could be expected if she had contact with the mask, or what could be expected if she had worn it at some time.

– Claire Morse

She added that DNA from at least three people was found on a knotted bin bag, also taken from a suitcase, at least one was male, and one that could suggest Hoare had also contributed.

A number of blood stains, on the masks, safety goggles and circular saw matched Becky Watts, she said.

She went on to add that a 'Tweety t-shirt' found in the spotted suitcase had a high DNA match for Hoare - indicating she could be the usual wearer of the garment.

Both a blood stained green jumper, and a blue onesie, had been cut using scissors. The jumper, which had DNA matches to Becky, had been cut from the bottom to top at the back, while the onesie had the back, gusset and straps cut.
