A man has admitted launching an acid attack on a Truro property developer which left him blinded and severely disfigured – but he was the wrong target.

David Phillips went to the front door of Andrea Christopheros’ home on 9 December 2015 and threw a beaker filled with sulphuric acid at him. Truro Crown Court heard it was a case of mistaken identity in a revenge attack.

Supt Dave Thorne from Devon and Cornwall Police told the court that the attack was ‘ill prepared and ill planned’. Phillips went to the wrong house in the cul de sac and as the door opened, he threw the acid in Andreas Christopheros’ face.

He is significantly disfigured. His face, arms and body were burned. He is blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other. These are significant life changing injuries.

Sentencing will take place next month.
