Fire crews in Bristol fear inconsiderate parking around the city's new hospital at Southmead is so bad, lives are "being put in danger".

The issue was highlighted this morning on roads so tight with cars, fire engines were unable to drive down them. Police issued tickets to the worst offenders.

The hospital says an extra 2,700 parking spaces will be available on site by next Spring.

People fail to appreciate the the width of fire appliances - quite obviously the van and car will be able to proceed through but we are going to have difficulty and obviously it will cause a delay and for an emergency it causes problems
