Gloucester dad over halfway through Everest challenge

The "unfit" Gloucestershire welder climbing the height of Mount Everest for his daughter is in the 25th hour of his feat.

James Bottger's 3-year-old daughter has cerebral palsy, and needs a costly operation in America to help her walk.

To raise the £20,000 the family needs to pay for it Mr Bottger is walking up and down Gloucester's Robinswood Hill 75 times - about the distance of climbing Mount Everest.

Starting the challenge on Saturday morning, he hopes to finish by 6pm tonight, and is taking a selfie after each climb so that Twitter can following along with his progress.

He is being supported by our Pride of Britain winner Jamie McDonald - who has set up a new foundation with his cousin to encourage charity challenges.

Mr Bottger is now on climb 61 of 75. Donations can be made here. To follow the action on Twitter visit @SuperheroFdn and #DreamtoWalk.
