Southmead Hospital remind staff of security rules

Southmead Hospital say they have reminded staff of their security rules after the deaths of a mother and her baby this week. The hospital say no-one can enter or leave the maternity wards without passing a member of staff.

We have a security guard and security cameras in our maternity reception area from the hours of 8am until 8pm. Outside of these hours doors to this area are locked and the only access in or out of the wards is via the Central Delivery Suite where there is 24-hour reception cover and no-one can get in or out without a member of staff.

In light of this sad event we have reminded the security and maternity team of our security measures.

– Lisa Marshall, Deputy Director of Midwifery
