Jenny Jones won't get a bronze post box

Winter Olympic medallist Jenny Jones won't have a postbox painted bronze in her honour, her local council has said.

The 33-year-old snowboarder from Downend won bronze at Sochi in the slopestyle event last month.

South Gloucestershire Council wrote to Royal Mail asking for a postbox to be painted in the style of the gold postboxes from London 2012.

But today a South Gloucestershire Council spokesperson said: “Unfortunately our request to mark Jenny Jones’ medal success at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics by painting a post box bronze in her honour was not taken up by Royal Mail.”
