16-year-olds could get vote after Bristol MP's motion is passed

MPs have today voted to support Bristol West MP Stephen Williams' backbench motion to give 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote. Although the motion was passed 119 to 46, the government does not have to take any action.

Indeed, the Conservatives are opposed to the change, but it was part of the Liberal Democrats' 2010 manifesto.
