The new 'super' hospital at Southmead in Bristol is fully operational today. The Brunel building has been a decade in the planning, and cost £430 million.
Hospital design result of extensive research
It's just two years to go until a new hospital opens in Southmead in Bristol.
The £430 million project will offer patients state-of-the-art facilities when the doors open in 2014, and with 800 beds, will have more single rooms than any other NHS hospital in the country.
Deputy Project Director, Tricia Down, says extensive research was needed to design the best hospital possible.
