The historic win by West Country rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning to become the first British women to take an Olympic rowing gold will be celebrated on a special stamp.

The stamp, which features an image of the golden girls smiling and waving to supporters following their historic win, will be on sale in more than 500 Post Office branches from lunchtime on Thursday.

An additional 4,700 post offices will receive the Gold Medal stamps within a week.

Royal Mail said it would be the first time it has produced a stamp within 24 hours.

The stamps cost the normal first class price of 60p.
