Hector Christie, an organic farmer and stately home owner from North Devon has been arrested and charged after allegedly causing damage at the site of a GM wheat trial in Hertfordshire.
Mr Christie of Tapley Park near Instow is accused of breaking in to the Rothamsted Research Facility and disrupting a field trial of wheat. The crop has been genetically modified to repel insects rather than kill them.
