Out-patient appointments in Torbay and South Devon postponed

Snow caused disruption throughout Sunday

Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust have postponed all out-patient appointments due to the severe weather.

An amber warning is in place across Devon and Cornwall and will remain in place into the morning.

"Due to the extreme weather today and the uncertainty of the weather overnight we have taken the decision to postpone all out-patient appointments for Monday 19 March. We will be contacting patients as soon as possible to rebook. We are sorry that we have had to take this decision but it is important that we focus on urgent and emergency care.

“We are asking that all our staff who are rostered to be on duty attend as normal and where they have any difficulty getting in they are being given numbers to call for support.

“Essential domiciliary care visits are continuing. However other visits might be cancelled, if this is the case people will be phoned to let them know what is happening. Anybody concerned should phone their local team’s office.

“We do hope that people are able to stay warm and safe but if you do need care please look at the NHSquicker app, call NHS 111 or go to www.nhs.uk for advice and only in an emergency call 999 or visit an Emergency Department.

“We will continue to put our latest information on our website and ask people to look there for updateswww.torbayandsouthdevon.nhs.uk
