Missing DJ Derek's family believe they have found a new lead in the case. Almost three months have passed since 73-year-old Derek Serpell-Morris was last seen and despite a massive public campaign, his location remains a mystery.

But his family have found a map in his home which they believe may provide a link to his whereabouts.

Police say they are still investigating missing DJ Derek

Avon and Somerset police have said the case of missing DJ Derek is still open and still want anyone with information to come forward.

It comes after the family of 73-year-old Derek Morris were told police have stopped searching for him.

The focus of the investigation remains on Thornbury as we’re trying to establish where Derek went after taking the 10.32am number 78 bus from Bristol to Thornbury on Saturday 11 July.

This has been a distressing two months for Derek’s family and we’ve been pursuing every lead to try and get answers for them. They are being kept fully informed about our progress.

The campaign group 'find DJ Derek' say his family have been told that the police have stopped looking for the missing Bristol DJ.

73-year-old Derek Morris has been missing for two months. In a statement posted on Facebook, the group say there has been a "shocking" lack of police support, and call on friends and supporters to help the search effort.

They say police have called off the search until there is further evidence.

"Dear friends and fans, the police have notified the family that they will no longer be looking for Derek.

So no further involvement from the police until there is further evidence, so I guess it's up to us to pull together and do their job for them.

The lack of police support is shocking and to leave his family in thin air is unfair and terribly insensitive to their pain.

We could do with all your help and suggestions please get in contact over the weekend and we will respond as soon as we can.

Thank you to all of you for your love and support."

Avon and Somerset Police now believe that missing DJ Derek may have taken the number 78 bus from Bristol to Thornbury on the night he went missing.

The 73-year-old was last seen on CCTV leaving The Criterion Pub in Ashley Road at 00.13 am on July 11th 2015.

Officers now believe that Derek may have taken the 10.32am bus from Bristol to Thornbury that evening.

This would mean Derek would have arrived in the Thornbury area between 11.20am and 12 noon.

Police are now focussing their search in that area.

I am appealing directly for anyone who regularly uses the number 78 bus on a Saturday morning from Bristol to Thornbury to have a look at the photo of Derek and see if you recall seeing him.

Equally, anyone who lives around any of the number 78 bus stops in Thornbury – do you recognise Derek and did you see him.
