Happy 125th birthday Agatha Christie

125 years ago the world's best-selling novelist was born in South Devon. What Agatha Christie went on to achieve in her lifetime was quite remarkable.

She published 83 books and created characters that are familiar to millions of people. To co-incide with her birthday her home town of Torquay cracked open champagne, magic tricks - and even the Poirot moustache, honouring her legacy with a day of glorious, and stylish, celebration.

Jacquie Bird was there to join in the fun.

Events are taking place in Torquay today to mark the 125th birthday of Agatha Christie.

The crime writer was born and brought up in the town and today there will even be a garden party in her memory - as well as an opportunity to retrace her footsteps.

The Agatha Christie Festival runs until Sunday.
