A man accused of killing an elderly driving instructor from Falmouth at a disused mine has been sentenced to life imprisonment
Kevin Cooper, 34, was convicted today after several days of jury deliberations, and will serve a minimum of 28 years.
The jury failed to reach a verdict on his co-defendant, 21-year-old Trewen Kevern, who is also accused of murder. Police will be consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service on options for further action.
The body of 72-year-old David Alderson was found in a sunken pond at Wheal Maid, a disused copper mine near Carharrack, Cornwall in January last year.
