The Gloucestershire father who climbed the equivalent of Everest to raise money for his four-year-old daughter with cerebral palsy says she is doing well after the treatment she needs to help her walk.

A father from Gloucestershire who climbed the equivalent of Everest to raise money for his four-year-old daughter, will fly to America with her for treatment this weekend.

His daughter Charlotte has cerebral palsy and needs treatment at a specialist hospital. The family will stay with a sponsor for five weeks while Charlotte receives an operation to give her the chance to walk.

After completing his herculean walk, James Bottger thanked those who had supported him during the two and a half day walk and those who had helped raised and pledge money that will allow his daughter Charlotte to receive treatment in America which it's hoped will allow her to walk.

A self-confessed unfit man from Gloucestershire has managed to scale the height of Everest to raise money to help his daughter to walk.

James Bottger has climbed Robinswood Hill in Gloucester 75 times in a row. He started on Saturday and finished just before 10pm tonight, 22 December.

He has climbed the equivalent of almost 9,000m - and on his final ascent was accompanied by 60 people to celebrate his achievement.

He wanted to raise £20,000 to pay for three-year-old Charlotte to have an operation - he has smashed that target - the current total is around £25,000.

The "unfit" Gloucestershire welder climbing the height of Mount Everest for his daughter is in the 25th hour of his feat.

To raise the £20,000 the family needs to pay for it Mr Bottger is walking up and down Gloucester's Robinswood Hill 75 times - about the distance of climbing Mount Everest.

Starting the challenge on Saturday morning, he hopes to finish by 6pm tonight, and is taking a selfie after each climb so that Twitter can following along with his progress.

He is being supported by our Pride of Britain winner Jamie McDonald - who has set up a new foundation with his cousin to encourage charity challenges.
