Police find evidence of cannabis in exploded flat

Police investigating an explosion at a flat in Taunton have found evidence of cannabis being grown inside.

Crews were called to a flat in Gaunton Close late on Friday night. They rescued a man who is being treated for burns in hospital. When it was safe to do so, police searched the flat and recovered 12 large plants and lights and a tent thought to be associated with the cultivation of the illegal drug.

In an area of the flat in Gaunton Close which was safe to search we found and seized 12 large plants, 6 seedlings and about an ounce of dried vegetable matter, all believed to be cannabis. We also seized what are believed to be lights and a tent associated with the growing of cannabis plants, and enquiries are continuing.”

A man has suffered burns after a suspected gas explosion at a flat in Taunton.

Crews were called to Gaunton Close late on Friday night where a large hole had been blown out of the building.

They rescued the man and extinguished a small fire. A police corden remains in place while investigations are carried out.
