Devonport Dockyard

There are safety concerns over nuclear submarines at Devonport dockyard. It follows the failure of a nuclear ring main which caused a loss of power.

The local MP says he now wants a meeting with the owners of the Dockyard over the incident. From Plymouth, Bob Cruwys reports.

There are safety concerns after a nuclear ring at Devonport Dockyard lost power for 90 minutes.

The dockyard lost the power that it uses to cool nuclear reactors in Submarines in July 2012. Babcock Marine, the operator of the docks, has been told it must improve safety standards.

The Ministry of Defence has been issued with a warning over the incident. Local MP Oliver Colvile is asking for assurances from Babcock Marine
