Flood Warning In South West

Two flood warnings remain in force in the south west. The Environment Agency has issued warnings for the river near Sturminster Newton. After 30 mm of rain fell in 24 hours and more to come, there are fears for both the lower and middle Stour. People at risk are urged to take precautions

Six flood warnings are in force in the south west after heavy rain. The Environment Agency has issued warnings for rivers in parts of Devon, Somerset and Dorset. People at risk are urged to take precautions

In Devon, the rivers Clyst, the Axe (Lower), and the Taw (Middle) are all affected. In West Somerset, river levels are rising on the Doniford Stream. In Dorset, after 30 mm of rain in 24 hours and more to come, there are fears for both the lower and middle Stour near Sturminster Newton.

A beaver was found in the River Otter in Honiton.

This rare sight was brought on by the rising river levels.

Viewer Phil Callard and his son James sent us these photos of the beaver outside of their work.

It was looking tired, and an expert was called in from Escot Park in Ottery St Mary, which has a beaver conservation programme.

But sadly, the beaver died on the way to the vet.

The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings to people living near rivers.

Areas at risk include:

• River Otter

• River Axe

• River Taw

• River Char

• River Wriggle

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Otter (Lower) from Fenny Bridges to Budleigh Salterton. People living nearby are warned to block doors and to move family, pets and any valuables to safety.

Flooding is expected for riverside properties and roads between Fenny Bridges and Budleigh Salterton, including Gosford, Cadhay, Harpford, Colaton Raleigh, Budleigh Salterton, the A3052 at Newton Poppleford and the A376 at Budleigh Salterton.

A Flood Warning has been issued by for the River Otter (Upper) at Honiton, Weston and Fenny Bridges. The Environment Agency is warning people at risk to take immediate action by blocking doors and moving family, pets and valuable possessions to a safe place.

Flooding is expected for riverside locations and roads between Upottery and Fenny Bridges, including at Honiton (Tracey Mill area), Weston and Fenny Bridges.

A Flood Warning has been issued for the River Char at Charmouth. The Environment Agency is warning people at risk to take immediate action by blocking doors and moving family, pets and valuable possessions to a safe place.

Flooding is expected for The Street in Charmouth including Catherston Cottages, Robyns Nest, Neighbridge Cottage and Kingfishers.

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Coly from Colyton to Colyford. People at risk are being warned to take immediate action by protecting doorways and moving family, pets and valuables to a safe place.

Flooding is expected for riverside locations and roads between Colyton and Colyford, including Chantry Bridge, Road Green, Colyvale Caravan Park, White Hart Inn, Bridge Cottages and the A3052 at Colyford.
