Flood warnings issued across the West Country
Multiple flood warnings have been issued across the West Country by the Environment Agency, which is urging residents to take action immediately.
The body has put 18 separate warnings in place following heavy rain across the South West.
A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office, which covers the whole of the region and is in place until 9am on Monday 6 January.
There are also dozens of flood alerts, less serious warnings that people should monitor the water levels and be wary of their surroundings - but that flooding is not expected.
On Monday 6 January morning the M5 was closed southbound in Gloucestershire due to flooding from J11 A40 (Gloucester / Golden Valley Bypass) to J12 A430 (Quedgeley / Hardwicke).
Great Western Railway has said its trains between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester are running at a reduced speed because of “heavy rain flooding the railway."
