Plymouth Argyle fans have spoken out about their lack of faith in their team and manager Wayne Rooney - following the side's failure to pick up a win in its last nine league games.

The team's 2-0 loss against Oxford on Sunday 29 December means they are now at the very bottom of the Championship League table and currently four points from safety.

The host of podcast 'Argyle Life' Aaron Hocking spoke to ITV West Country about his frustration with the team's recent performances.

Hocking said of his decision to not attend the Oxford game: "I've just had enough to be honest. A friend of mine has worked out that we have travelled around 7,400 miles since our last away win in the Championship which is equivalent to flying to Bangkok.

"I've just had the day off - I'll definitely be back for the games against Stoke and Brentford - but I just needed the day off for my own sanity!

"We've tried everything - I just don't think Rooney knows exactly how to get the best out of this squad. I appreciate that the team has had lots more injuries than most and is a very inexperienced squad - but I just don't think he knows what he's doing."

The new year marks a crucial time for the club - with the January transfer window opening in the midst of a injury-wracked time for the side.

Hocking commented: "We don't have any fit strikers available - now we don't have any fit wingers available. We really need to scrape through January, get past through our New Year's Day game against Bristol City and get bodies in the door."

The Argyle fan said he is currently planning for relegation. He said: "We just need somebody to come in, just back to basics, simple stuff on the training ground."

Manager Wayne Rooney was appointed in May, having previously been in charge of fellow Championship team Birmingham City.

The former England captain has had a rocky few months as manager of the Pilgrims - his first game in charge saw Argyle thrashed 4-0 at Sheffield Wednesday.

Plymouth Argyle has won only four Championship games this season - the side has recorded six draws and 13 losses.

It is fair to say this season has been somewhat chaotic for Plymouth Argyle.

The appointment of former England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney seemed to move the club forward off the pitch but on it, it does feel like they have taken a stride backwards.

A shocking run of form away from home has seen them lose 11 of their 13 matches and if you include their games at Home Park they have only won four times in the league in 23.

There are other factors at play here and not all the blame can be laid at Wayne Rooney's feet.

A never-ending injury list, to some key players, a lack of real investment in the squad and some misfortune in certain matches has only heightened the severity of the situation the club find themselves in.

We are now at the halfway mark and fans are starting to fear the worst.

January does though provide fresh optimism, potential signings and a prospective new shareholder looking to come on board according to the club's owner Simon Hallett.

Currently bottom of the Championship table and four points adrift of safety, the Pilgrims must find a way of turning things round. That MUST start at home to Bristol City on New Year's Day.
