An animal rescue charity has said a barn owl discovered tangled in a kite line was "very lucky" to be saved.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre found the owl with the tip of its wing trapped to a tree in Bristol.

The owl suffered swelling and bruising but was still able to fly.

After a few weeks of rehabilitation to let the swelling subside and muscle strength to return, the owl has been released back into the garden where it was found.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue said the incident "highlights the critical importance of removing litter, as it can have devastating impacts on wildlife."
