Somerset mum horrified by cost of Christmas events puts on her own

A Somerset mother has organised her own Christmas event for a town after being horrified by how much other attractions in the region cost.

Emma Cole, along with her husband Edward, have created Bridgwater Christmas Sparkle, which will be on until 1st January.

The event is being held at Blake Gardens in the town centre and features skating, rides, food and entertainment.

Emma said: "Myself and my husband are from several generations of showmen families so we are entertainers and that's what we do for a living.

"What we wanted to do here - not everybody can afford £100 to get on a train to go to Bristol to go skating or see Santa. We've tried to make something safe, fun, affordable and exciting for Bridgwater, for the town, for the people."

Mayor of Bridgwater, Cllr Jacqui Solomon said: "I'm so pleased to have something like this here in the centre of Bridgwater. I think it really has brought some Christmas sparkle to the area!"
