Glastonbury 2024: 'The best moment of the year' - Emily Eavis opens gates to Worthy Farm
Emily Eavis tells ITV News West Country opening the gates to Worthy Farm is the "best moment of the year"
Thousands of festivalgoers have made it through the gates of Worthy Farm as the world-famous Glastonbury Festival begins.
After welcoming those who made it onsite, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis told ITV News opening the gates this morning was an 'incredibly moving" moment.
"This is something we work on all year. We're completely taken over by it. We live and breathe it", she said.
"So to actually get to this moment and open the gates in the sunshine and see everyone's lovely faces, it means a lot.
"It's the best moment of the year", she added.

It is the first year the festival will have two female headliners, something Emily Eavis described as a "passion project".
“It’s the first (year) we’ve got two female headliners, which is something that has been a bit of a passion project for me. So that’s a big one", she said.
Headline slots are filled by pop singer Dua Lipa, British rock band Coldplay and American soul singer Sza, while Canadian country star Shania Twain will play the coveted legends slot.
Campers arriving at the world-famous festival in Pilton, can expect “mostly warm, dry and settled” weather for the next five days but scattered showers could begin from day one and last until the end of the weekend, according to the Met Office.
'Get your feathers out, your tassels, your glitter, your sequins'
One reveller was in the queue to the festival with pink rollers in her hair, and told us the festival is "one big massive wardrobe event" for her and her friends.
"Every single Glasto, you can't not put the effort in", she said.
"You can get your feathers out, your tassels, your glitter, your sequins. I just think, go wild with it, you're in the best field ever, do you know what I mean?
"Literally, I'll be the most glamorous person in the world".
Sunday will also see US star Avril Lavigne, Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club and US rock band The National perform on the Other Stage.
The Met Office has told Glastonbury revellers that the weekend should be “largely dry and cloudy”, but they may face showers.
The outlook from ITV News West Country weather presenter Charlie Powell:
"The forecast still looks good for the duration of Glastonbury with very little rainfall and some decent temperatures.
"Wednesday will be a hot one, with very high UV and temperatures up to around 27 °C. Not brilliant for dragging your kit in maybe, but great for setting up camp in the dry.
"It'll get off to a fine start on Thursday but a weak front will move through, perhaps giving a light shower, then introducing less humid air for the rest of the day on some brisk winds. It won't be as hot either with highs closer to 21 °C.
"This then leaves the rest of the festival on a pretty dry note. Skies will be a bit cloudier towards the weekend and temperatures will stay around the 20 degree mark."
