A361 in Somerset shut both ways after car crashes into utility pole
A busy road in Somerset is shut after a car crashed into a utility pole.
A black Ford Fiesta was involved in the collision, which happened on the A361 at Park Hill in Pilton around 2am on December 10.
Police have closed the road in both directions to allow investigators to examine the scene.
It is not expected to reopen for some time, with drivers being urged to consider alternative routes.
In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a serious injury road traffic collision on the A361 Park Hill at Pilton, Somerset.
“The road is closed in both directions and drivers are urged to seek alternative routes.
“Police were alerted to the single-vehicle collision just before 2am. A black Ford Fiesta was in collision with a utility pole.
“The road is expected to remain closed into the morning commute while collision investigators examine the scene, pending recovery of the vehicles and power cables being made safe.”
Diversions
Heavy goods vehicles are being diverted at the A361 junction with the A37 near Cannards Grave and at the junction with the A39 near B&Q.
The road is closed to cars at the junctions with Parsons Batch and Lower Westholme Road.
