Volunteer and customer threatened with knife at Stroud charity shop during robbery

A volunteer and a customer were threatened with a knife during a robbery of charity shop in Painswick.

The incident happened at Longfield Hospice Shop on Bisley Street at around 3pm when a man entered the shop and threatened a customer and a member of staff with a knife.

Gloucestershire Police say the customer - who is in their 70s - and the member of staff are "shaken" but uninjured.

A spokesperson from the force said: "He was given money from the till and the customer before running off.

"The man is described as being a white man with ginger hair, who is believed to have been in his mid-20s. He was wearing a black bobble hat with writing on, a dark coloured bomber jacket and blue jeans."

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, who has not already spoken to them, to come forward through the website quoting incident 269 of 2 December.
