South Gloucestershire couple "devastated" after Storm Arwen destroys horse therapy centre
A couple in South Gloucestershire have been left "devastated" after Storm Arwen destroyed an equine therapy centre for children with additional needs.
Lauren Jones' Westerleigh stable collapsed, leaving horses trapped inside. However, only one pony suffered a minor injury.
Taking to Facebook to share images of the damage, Lauren said: "We have put blood, sweat and tears into this over the last year to finally have my SEND young persons able to have the therapy.
"Now I need to tell them I will have to cancel all sessions till god knows when and try to find extra timber and sheets and time to replace it all.
"The one good thing is only one minor injury on one pony. It could have been a lot worse."
Lauren and her husband have set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for rebuilding the stable.
The fundraiser reads: "Last night in the early hours of the morning we were phoned up to the devastating news that the roof has come off, so me and the wife rushed down to see for ourselves.
"I had to cut up most of the timber to dismantle the structure in a safe way, leaving my wife and friend in tears.
"This was going to be my wife's new equine therapy for children with disabilities. We have a group of young people already and now they are going to be devastated to close until we have this roof back on."
