Attempted abduction of girl, 4, on Plymouth Hoe sparks police appeal
Police say they are "keeping an open mind" after the attempted abduction of a four-year-old girl in Plymouth.
The incident happened on Sunday 5 November - during a Bonfire Night event on Plymouth Hoe - but police have today (November 25) issued an appeal for witnesses.
Devon and Cornwall Police say a man approached the girl near Elliot Terrace between 7.50pm and 8.15pm before attempting to walk off with her.
The man is described as as Asian with a thin build who is approximately 5ft 8in tall and aged between 25 and 30 years old.
A spokesperson for the force said: "He had dark hair that was shaved on the sides but was longer and gelled back on top. He was wearing a black leather jacket at the time.
"The child he approached is also Asian so we are currently keeping an open mind on if this was an innocent mistake and not something more sinister.
"But it is vital that we identify the man in question and speak to any witnesses who were in the area and who may have information that can assist us with our enquiries."
The force is urging anyone who has information to contact them on 101@dc.police.uk with the reference CR/096986/21.
