Body found in search for man missing off Portland
A body has been found off the Isle of Portland which is believed to be a man who went missing two weeks ago.
Dorset Police were called to Church Ope Cove on Sunday (19 July) evening with reports that a man had entered the water.
The National Police Air Service helicopter, the coastguard and Dorset Search and Rescue all worked together to search for the man.
Police received reports of a body being found near Durdle Pier on Friday (21 July) afternoon.
The body is yet to be formally identified but police believe it is the man being searched for.
His next of kin have been notified and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Dorset Police chief inspector Lindsay Dudfield said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man at this time.
"We would like to thank all those involved in the search efforts and everyone who shared our appeal."
