Woolacombe beach crowned as one of the best in the world
Woolacombe beach in North Devon has been crowned one of the best in the world, beating the likes of Australia, Italy and Greece.
The seaside destination ranked 20th in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice awards for the world's best beaches in 2020.
Not only did it appear higher in the list than Whitehaven Beach on the Whitsunday Islands, it was the only beach in the UK to be awarded a spot in the top 25.
According to the online travel company, the stretch of sand in the West Country is "three miles of heaven".
At the top of the Travellers' Choice list for 2020 is Baia do Sancho in Brazil, in second is Grace Bay Beach on the northeast coast of Providenciales, followed closely by Playa Paraiso in Cuba.
The glorious beach in the South West is incredibly popular with locals and tourists alike.
In May we reported on the surge in visitors to Woolacombe following the easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Drivers were warned not to park on double yellow lines after numerous incidents where emergency services vehicles were blocked from getting to where they needed to be.
