Licence granted for electric powered rickshaws - known as tuk tuks - on the streets of Newquay
Electric-powered rickshaws, known as tuk tuks, could become a common sight in Cornwall after councillors granted permission for a new company to operate in Newquay.
Cornwall Council has granted a private licence for the firm NuBeez to to run a service in Newquay, and the firm says it wants to expand services to Padstow, St Ives and Fowey.
If all goes according to plan, services could be running in Newquay from next April, in time for the holiday season.
Initiallly, two of the electric-powered tuk tuks will be in service. They will be able to carry two passengers and a condition of the licence is they must have doors fitted.
Passengers will only be able to ride in them after making an advance booking.
