A Devon pub was forced to shut early on Saturday 18 July after staff were allegedly abused when they 'lost control' of crowds.

The Morley Arms in Plymouth attracted dozens of people, which appeared to show a breach of lockdown social distancing rules - something pubs must enforce to be allowed to reopen.

Large crowds of people were videoed partying under a gazebo in the pub's beer garden, with some seen to be sitting on one another's shoulders.

George Wakeham, who works at the pub near Plymstock, claims the premises had to shut early following the chaos, and that some staff were even abused.

The pub has said it will introduce new safety measures to stop the issue from happening in the future, including reducing overall capacity and hiring in more security.
