Burglar left 'hanging upside down' after getting stuck during a break-in in Swindon

A burglar in Wiltshire had to turn himself in to the police after getting stuck in a window during a break-in.

Frederick Moulton, 53, was arrested after calling for help during his own robbery.

Police were called to the house in Swindon in the early hours of Thursday (June 18) morning when it became clear that Moulton had been trying to break in to the property illegally.

The house he was targeting was empty when he jammed his leg while attempting to crawl through the window, leaving him hanging upside down.

Moulton, who is from Swindon, was arrested at the scene after calling Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

He was handed an 18-month community order and paid £180 in fines, after pleading guilty to burglary and possession of a Class B drug at Swindon Magistrates' Court.
