A Cornish village today became the latest to install a new shop which will be run entirely by residents.

St Dominick, near Saltash, welcomed a metal cabin which will sell essential items after the closure of the village's existing store.

Shares in the project have been purchased by more than a hundred local people.

It is a similar model to St Mabyn, where residents opened a new pop-up shop after their 100-year-old store and post office closed in 2018.

Last year the owners of the village's existing shop and Post Office announced their plans to close.

A steering group was formed with the intention of creating a new store, run by residents.

The group registered as a 'community benefit society', allowing anyone to use the shop and diverting any profits towards the village.
