Cheltenham care home residents sing their own tribute to Dame Vera Lynn who has died aged 103
Residents at a care home in Cheltenham have got together to sing a tribute to the forces sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn, who has died aged 103.
The pensioners, who all live at the Lilian Faithfull care home, joined with staff to sing 'We'll Meet Again'.
The residents - who are still in isolation because of the Covid-19 virus - were filmed by a staff member for ITV West Country.
One resident, Peter Ashley, was a flight engineer in RAF bomber command, during the second world war, and remembered Dame Vera's songs well.
Elsewhere Gloucester Cathedral rang out its bells as a tribute to the wartime singer.
A spokesman for the cathedral says the peal of bells, to the tune of "We'll meet again" was a "spur of the moment" tribute to the singer.
It was captured by a number of passers-by and circulated on social media.
