Two shot in 'targeted' attack on suburban Bristol street

A man and a woman have been shot in a 'targeted' attack in Bristol.

Armed officers were sent to the scene after a witness called to report the shooting shortly before 12.50am on Thursday 18 June.

Police and paramedics arrived at Ringwood Crescent in Southmead where a man and woman - both with shotgun wounds - were taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police were calledat 12.50am on Thursday 18 June by a witness reporting that a man hadbeen shot. The incident happened in the street in Ringwood Crescent,Southmead.

"Specialist firearms officers supported patrol officers and ambulance crew at the scene.

"Officers found a woman had also been injured in the incident, which involved a shotgun.

"The investigation, including forensic examination and house-to-house enquiries, continues."

DI James Wasiak added: "We'll have extra patrols in the area today both to reassure local people and as we carry out our enquiries.

"While the investigation is at a very early stage, we believe this to be a targeted incident between individuals known to one another.

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were calledat 12.50am about an incident on Ringwood Crescent, Southmead.

"We sent various resources to the scene, including land ambulancecrews and specialist paramedics.

"Our teams treated two patients at the scene, and transported them tohospital by land ambulance for further care."
