Deal struck to build £40m state-of-the-art aerospace facility in Gloucestershire
A state-of-the-art aerospace facility worth £40million is set to be built in Gloucestershire.
Midlands-based Moog have agreed a deal to develop on a ten-acre site at Ashchurch near Tewkesbury.
The aerospace and defence company, which already operates a facility at the site, wants to build a £40million “centre of excellence” specialising in engine and flight controls systems.
Mike Dawson, who is chief executive of Tewkesbury Borough Council, said it was pleasing to see a big company make a “long-term commitment” to Gloucestershire.
The site is owned by investment company Barberry, who have agreed to pre-let the land to Moog on a 35-year lease.
The deal is believed to be one of the biggest of the year in the manufacturing industry.
An application for planning consent to build the new facility will be submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council later this month, with construction set to begin in 2021.
The facility, which will also incorporate engineering and administration offices, is expected to open by 2023.
