Weston General Hospital is accepting new patients again after it had to stop admitting people following an outbreak of coronavirus cases.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust said the hospital has been "deep cleaned" following a rise in cases last month.

It stopped taking new patients after several people on a non-Covid ward became infected, along with more than 100 members of staff.

The trust said it now has enough medical staff to treat new patients and those working have been tested "at least twice" to make sure they don't have the virus.

New admissions were stopped from 25 May, and people in need of treatment since then have been admitted to nearby hospitals.

The A&E department was also closed to help minimise the spread of the virus and will remain closed, but could re-open by the end of next week.
